Working with hundreds of dental teams, Alex believes that a professional and knowledgeable Dental Office Manager is instrumental in having a successful and stress-free dental practice. The need for an education-based organization to connect standardization, certification, knowledge sharing and a strong community for this profession, has never been clearer.
Forged by business acumen, administrative professionalism, passion for the industry, and the assistance of an experienced team, Alex founded the Association to serve as the official body which represents Dental Office Managers, Canada-wide.
Alex brings over 10 years of management experience in many industries, on top of his MBA and B.Sc. degrees. He also volunteers as an Advisory Board Member for the Association of MBAs in Canada, and as an Advisory Committee Member for the Administrative Assistant Program with Red River College in Winnipeg, MB.
He is passionate about utilizing his experience and knowledge to shape the future of professions, industries, and people.
Content Writer and Membership Development Coordinator
As Dental Office Managers Association of Canada’s interactive media writer, Laura’s responsibilities include generating content for publication or presentation, conducting research to establish factual content and to obtain other necessary information, and analyzing and editing materials used for marketing and promotion.
She also looks after the writing of manuals, user guides and other documents for creative, educational, and informational purposes. Laura comes to the association a graduate of the University of Manitoba and Red River College. She possesses an English degree and has experience in editing and proofreading technical and government documents.
She is a creative and out-of-the-box thinker that enjoys a challenge and learning new things. Born and raised in Winnipeg, she enjoys reading, writing, and the occasional karaoke experience, but also volunteers as an English tutor and works as a freelance writer in her spare time.
Laura is enthusiastic about contributing her skills to help promote, support, and maintain professional development in this integral field.
Member Development Officer
Craig Hayes is a significant addition to the Dental Office Managers Association of Canada. As our Member Development Officer, he provides a wealth of management experience. Craig has managed teams with upwards of 300 employees, and currently manages a practice with 11 dentists and 50 support staff.
His spectrum of knowledge includes human resources expertise, strong knowledge of the labour laws in each region, and experience managing small businesses to large corporate structures with his current practice having doubled in size over the last six years.
His success and expertise make him an asset to this association, but it is his absolute passion and drive as a Dental Office Manager to build a strong community with set standards and certification that makes him invaluable. He believes sincerely that Dental Office Managers can achieve success with the proper tools, and one of those tools is a peer network, in his words, “someone who understands!” He is dedicated to tackling the struggles of Dental Office Managers and is here to make sure that they no longer have to stand alone.
Monica’s strong organizational skills and creative problem-solving continue to help the Dental Office Managers Association of Canada run smoothly. She coordinates events and meetings and takes pleasure in helping Dental Office Managers nationwide. For over nine years Monica has helped dental offices become fully functional with their practice management software and brings that experience to assist Dental Office Managers to improve their office efficiency.
Dr. John Maggirias
Chief Dental Officer
Dr. John is passionate about access to dental care and the use of data to improve quality of care. He sees the democratization of data as a focal point in transforming the dental industry into areas of predictive analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
He spent 10 years as a population data scientist at the University of Toronto, and has owned and operated over 300 clinics during his private sector career over the last 10 years. He also founded Jaw Shield and ClearShape which were dental device distribution companies operating across Canada.
Dr. John is thrilled to join the association and build a strong organization to help clinics be efficient and to ensure the Canadian public receive the care they deserve.
